The Moment I Realized I Was Slipping Back Into Survival Mode

The truth is… healing isn’t something you “finish.”

It’s a daily practice. A returning. A remembering.

And recently, I had a moment that reminded me of that in a very real way.

It was one of those mornings where I woke up already feeling behind. I got out of bed and immediately started taking care of everything and everyone except myself. No breathwork. No grounding. No journaling. No check-in with my inner child.

Just straight into doing life.

By noon, I felt irritated, overwhelmed, and disconnected — for no obvious reason. Things that wouldn’t normally bother me were suddenly heavy. I caught myself overthinking, overexplaining, and slipping into old patterns I thought I was done with.

And that’s when it clicked:

I had skipped the practices that keep me anchored. And my body went right back into survival mode.

What a Trauma Loop Really Looks Like

A lot of people hear the words “trauma loop” and think it has to be something dramatic.

But many times, it looks like:

  • Feeling overwhelmed by simple tasks

  • Snapping at people you love

  • Feeling unsafe or unsupported for no obvious reason

  • Needing to stay busy so you don’t feel

  • Doubting yourself

  • Feeling disconnected from your body

  • Going into autopilot instead of presence

Trauma loops aren’t about new trauma. They’re about the nervous system remembering old patterns — especially when we skip the practices that help regulate us.

My Rituals Aren’t Aesthetic — They’re Medicine

For me, my rituals keep me grounded, and when I skip them, I feel it.

These are the things that bring me back into my body:

  • Stretching or gentle movement

  • Breathwork

  • A grounding meditation

  • Sitting with my inner child for a moment

  • My daily “get present” affirmation

  • Energy clearing

  • Journaling, even if just a few lines

I don’t do these to be “productive.” I do them so I don’t slip back into the version of me who was just trying to survive.

These practices help me stay aligned, regulated, and connected.

And when I skip them… I drift.

Healing Is in the Returning

We are not meant to be perfect. We are meant to be aware.

When we fall off, when we disconnect, when we slide back into old patterns —the growth is in recognizing it and returning to ourselves.

Returning to our breath. Returning to our body. Returning to the truth beneath the fear. Returning to the version of ourselves who is safe, grounded, and whole.

This journey is ongoing. But you don’t have to do it alone.

If This Resonates… You’re Invited

This winter, I’m opening a small pilot mentorship — a warm, intimate space where I’ll be walking alongside a small group of women who are ready to stop surviving and start truly living.

This isn’t the polished, official launch. This is the heart-centered version — the deeply personal one — where I get to support you up close.

If you’ve felt the pull to do the inner work…If you’ve been craving guidance…If you’re tired of doing everything alone…

I’d love to invite you into this pilot experience.
